Who are we?
Farbod Fakharzadeh (1986) is an Iranian artist, curator and storyteller based in Helsinki, Finland. In 2018 he received a Master’s degree in Visual Culture, Curating and Contemporary Art from Aalto University and has been active in the Finnish art scene ever since, exhibiting and collaborating in various projects for the past 8 years as an artist and curator.
His work deals with concepts of ecology, post brokenness, socio-economics and history politics that affect the contemporary human condition. Using mostly unwanted waste material, he assembles objects, moving images and words together to create multifaceted tales filled with magic and the absurd that reflect on our ways of thinking, working and collective survival.
In 2020 he co-founded Taidekirppis, an archive and artistic platform dedicated to emerging artists based in Finland and he currently serves as the vice-chairperson for Catalysti, an association that advocates for transcultural artists living and working in Finland. Farbod’s work has been supported by Arts Promotion Center Finland and Finnish Cultural Foundation among others.
Petri Haavisto (1984) is a visual artist living and working in Pori. He graduated from the Kankaanpää art school in 2021. In the past few years he has worked on several projects such as Attractive NordicTowns, Urb Cultural Planning, Urbact Come In! and Lähiöohjelma 2020-2022.
He has also created public art works, a recent example being the “Nousu” sculpture erected on highway 23.
As his materials he utilizes 3D-filament, ceramics, concrete, bronze and steel.
Haavisto also works with recycled materials and found objects, particularly trampoline mats.
For Ars Pori Megastore Petri Haavisto and Ville Kirjanen will collaborate on an exhibition under the name of Les Beaux Hommes De Pori.
Ville Kirjanen (1984) graduated from Kankaanpää art school in 2010 as a visual artist and sculptor. He has since lived and worked primarily in Pori. He works mainly with sculpture and ceramics, having occasionally engaged with installations, performance, video art, event production and Gonzo journalism.
Until 2020 he worked as a part of artist collective T.E.H.D.A.S. as an artist and producer, having since concentrated more on his individual work which utilizes themes and esthetics from popular culture, mythology and art history with a hint of body horror mixed in.
He still remains active in several cultural organizations and has in the past few years worked on several projects as an artist and producer, among them the Urbact Come In! and Urb Cultural Planning projects by the European Union and the city of Pori.
